Over the last few days a huge number of people have been affected by the collapse of Thomas Cook. Thomas Cook is a tour operator and airline that has been running since 2007 after integrating with another travel company.
With Thomas Cook no longer in action, many holiday makers who were abroad with them at the time of collapse are desperately trying to get home. It is said that currently 60% of travellers are still stuck abroad many of whom say they are getting little information.
Luckily package holidays booked through Thomas Cook are ATOL protected meaning you will not lose any money and they will ensure you get home, but if you have a holiday booked for the next few weeks, you may not get your money back in time to book another holiday.
There is very little that can be done to prevent this type of rare occurrence happening, but taking out a good quality travel insurance package at the time of booking may come in handy.
Always check all flight and hotel details before you travel and try and prepare for a situation where you may be delayed getting home should something like this happen to you.
